At least six months. It is best to do things as early as possible, so you would ideally get in touch with us now to talk through your individual situation.

ways to approach it, but for a high level of professional support we recommend
you choose a single medical recruitment agency to guide you through such a
major life change.

Most GP employers will not consider an application which is less than six months, and most prefer candidates who commit to twelve months.

Australia is largely a government funded, public healthcare system.

sometimes pharmacies co-located with medical practices.

overseas trained doctors may work.
What types of positions are available? Depending on the location you choose to live, there may be a few options
available to you- ranging from a ‘9-5’ position, to a job with admitting rights
at a local hospital.
Who are my potential employers?
As a general practitioner, your employment will most likely be in a
privately owned medical practice. There are some opportunities available in
government health centres, particularly in indigenous health.
